Book Reviews For The Late Night Reader
I May Be Cheap But I'm Not Easy
Wicked First:
I really felt like I was grasping at straws with this series, desperate for something to read. Only being 99 cents was the major selling point when I selected this from the nook store. This book is actually a collection of short stories from random authors. The first three stories are pretty good for being so short, however as I came to the last few stories I found myself asking "did I really just read that?"
Our first story is a mystery. A beautiful actress Avery Scott comes to private security firm to hire help to find her missing friend. There she runs into Ethan Blackwell, a brooding alpha male from her past with a bit of unfinished business. The story unfolds in a tropical paradise but because it is only a few hundred pages it was hard to get invested in our main characters. I will say for less than a dollar the first few book did keep my interest.
Waking Up Married by Elizabeth Kelly/ Cost: Free
This book was adorable. Being a free nook book I expected something “cheesy” and predictable, but I was pleasantly surprise at the witty banter between Megan and Carter.. er.. uh I mean Conner. Per the title Megan and Conner wake up after a wild night in sin city to find they are indeed married. Although Megan can barely remember the name of her new husband, Conner is positive this new relationship is just what he was looking for.
If you’re looking for a short easy read that will tickle your funny bone now and then this perfect.
Tempted by Elizabeth Kelly
Most reviews give a few details about the book, I don’t like that so I will not be. Although I felt they should have taken a little time to develop the characters, in the beginning. Turned out the writer used her words and our time wisely. It was a nice short story. In the short time the writer gave you to get to know Jason and Lucy, it was just enough to like them. Lucy being a strong woman for not letting her feelings enterfear with her work and not letting what her coworkers thought about her looks get her down. Jason being a determined man for fighting how he felt towards Lucy and not letting anything detour him once he did give in. Jason seemed genuine in all he did once he let his feelings towards Lucy loose. I will say that the writer was effective in her story for what it was, a cute, sweet, to the point story. All that without seeming rushed and leaving you feeling you missed something. So, I would recommend this book
