Book Reviews For The Late Night Reader
Start Your Own Book Club
Everyone needs a little down time. For us and our group of girlfriends we started a book club night. Once a month we get together and discuss out latest reason for insomina. A little wine, some great food and A LOT of fun conversation. Below are a few of our favorite tips.
01
Pick a theme
After reading a new book there is always something that stands out a dress, a food, a mask or a time period. Whenever I am planing a menu I like to pick that one thing that stands out and build around that. For our Gatsby night we had 1920's style cocktails and "West egg salad." No matter what you choose own it and play up your theme.
02
Just a little favor
One thing that has been a big hit with our book club is our favors. Just a little something to accent your table setting or a tinket to wear during the evening, the jesture will make your guest feel special. Our group of friends takes turns bringing something special. Check out our gallery for some great ideas.
03
Ice breakers
Janelle has never been shy so whenever we get together she puts together a few questions to get the ball rolling. While we are reading we also text so eachother when we get to a part that we can't keep to ourselves. Later over drinks we can refer back to our texts to keep the conversation on track.
04
Change it up
I love hosting dinners and parties, so our first few club nights were always at my house. Although we always had a great time we decided that we need a change of scenery. After reading Bared To You we had dinner at a local vinyard. We sat in the open outdoor dining area, drank and talked for hours without having to worry about who's cleaning up. It was a welcome change from our norm and we will definitely be going back. So dont be afraid to change it up and meet somewhere new.
05
Have fun
Have fun with your group of friends! Honestly a third of our night is talking about the book and the rest of the night is spent eating, drinking and catching up. It's your "me time" so don't be afraid to spend it the way you want, let your hair down and relax.
